Grettings all
Hope that you are all having a great summer. This is an invite to partake in a small fundraising project for the destitute pensioners in My birthplace,of which I am sure that you are all aware.
This year I have decided that I need to try and keep my obesity under control by heading back to the water, this time I wanted to try and involve as many of the people that have supported me over the years since I started raising money for this cause. Sadly it is nothing like a float across the channel to France Like my 2008 challenge, (I was absolutely gobsmacked at the gaggle of supporters that gathered on the beach to see me off and even more so by the perserverance of a a fair few that had to endure a day and most of the night in Dover Waiting for me to arrive back.)
This time I am making it a little easier for you to support me whilst I undertake a short swim along the stretch of part of the river Thames. For those who were unable to support me in person last time, now you have the opportunity to walk along the entire route of the 2.25mile (3.6km) stretch of the Thames, starting from Hampton court, with the stunning backdrop of Hamton Court Palace to the Market town of Kingston.
On the 17th July 2011 I will be joining about 1600 swimmers to swim down the Thames. I suspect you will not have a problem spotting me in amounst this group as I will be one of the few who will not be clad in a black wetsuit but suitably attired in my bright Orange swimming briefs and cap. This is all a small part of a fundraising initiative in conjunction with the Extreme5Challenge to Raise £100 000 for destitute pensioners in Zimbabwe.
Please feel free to join me on the day and if you can spare any donations, I have set up a justgiving page that ishttp://www.justgiving.com/
I look forward to seeing as meany of you out on the day to support me and this cause that is extremely close to my heart.
